Ugly Secret of the Borek Stand
September 14, 2012 § 1 Comment
You all know about the (now a whopping $3) spicy lamb borek from that shop in the Victoria Market deli. You know, the one with the hectic ladies and long, chaotic but fast-moving queues. But have you tried their vegetable fritter…thing?
Because they are amazing.
Yes, they taste faintly of overused vegetable oil, yes the grease will turn the paper bag translucent, yes they are extremely malformed, and yes for $1.50, you should try them. The vegetables, mainly zucchini and carrot, are barely cooked and despite all that fry-oil they are juicy and slightly peppery and great for a hangover.
Borek shop. Not just for borek.

Yeah! Those fritters are so delicious! They’ve replaced my Vic Market bratwurst fetish.
